Shen Yun – Show – McCaw Hall Attended Shen Yun, a classical Chinese dance show banned in China (jeez communism!). It was good but I could do without the cheesy projections and the particularly rude audience. Stop talking/eating/coughing/texting and control your kids! — attending Shen Yun 2018 – Seattle at McCaw Hall.
Sincerely Yours – Musical – Village Theatre Watched the new musical “Sincerely Yours.” While I respect that this was written by high schoolers, it was just a lukewarm piece and performance. And why were there no guys? Single gender shows tend to be more boring in my experience. — attending Sincerely Yours at Village Theatre.
The Great Leap – Play – Seattle Repertory Theatre World premiere of “The Great Leap” play. Chinese American basketball player stars in a USA vs communist China game held during the Tiananmen Square Massacre. Not a fan of sports and politics but this was sooo so good! — attending a performance at Seattle Repertory Theatre.
Return to the Forbidden Planet – Musical – Centerstage Theatre Traveled to Siberia (Federal Way) to watch the Shakespeare-inspired sci-fri (aka cheesy) rock musical Return to the Forbidden Planet. Just … awful! It’s a shame cause the set was good & 1/2 the actors were inherently talented. Wasn’t sure if the lead actor lost his voice. — attending Return to the Forbidden Planet [Final Weekend] at Centerstage Theatre.
The Maltese Falcon – Dinner Theatre – Cafe Nordo Dinner theater watching the fast-paced stage adaptation of The Maltese Falcon. My 1st exposure to noir & I’m loving it! Actors portrayed this melodramatic genre well w/o being too campy/corny. In other news, I ate truffles for the 1st time & I’m not impressed. — attending The Maltese Falcon at Cafe Nordo.
