Afternoon matinee of The Vagina Monologues. Surprised how similar it was to the hilarious MADtv spoof. Disappointed that 1/3 of the monologues used notecards. But very vivacious vivid verse and verbiage.
Watched Bye Bye Birdie (musical). Fluffy charming old-timey show. I’m always amazed by the great talent from this lil ole theatre in Redmond (of all places). — attending Bye Bye Birdie at SecondStory Repertory.
Watched Chippendales with Andres and Sid. Where were all the gays? The 10 of us in the audience were the most docile people there. Soccer moms and bachelorettes gone wild! For such a rowdy crowd, the show was fairly tame.
Watched the play “Hir” & was so confused w/ the message that I stayed for the talkback. Not sure if I’m too dense, I’m too entrenched in the patriarchal mindset, or the play was too layered that I missed the commentary on misogynistic domestic abuse. Who was the good/bad guy? — attending HIR by Taylor Mac, co-produced by ArtsWest & Intiman Theatre at ArtsWest Playhouse and Gallery.
Evening performance of “Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin.” Not a fan of one-man shows and only knew a few songs but could tell he was really talented. Would have liked to see his previous show on Frederick Chopin. — attending Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin at Seattle Repertory Theatre.
