Macbeth – Play – Seattle Repertory Theatre Watched William Shakespeare’s tragic play Macbeth. Old english made it difficult to follow especially with no set changes between scenes and double/tripple/quadruple role casting. Nice blood effects and beheading though.
Guys and Dolls – Musical – Blanchet Bishop Performing Arts Opening night to Guys And Dolls Musical. Light and cute old timey show. Good production budget. Unconvincing portrayal of mobster-like gamblers.
Hairspray – Musical – Village Theatre Best Hairspray version I’ve seen so far (out of 5). Will probably see again. It was interesting to hear Tracy with a more full-bodied (no pun intended) non-squeaky voice. Wish they could add the movie’s songs “Lady’s Choice” and “New Girl in Town.”
Proof – Play – SecondStory Repertory Opening night to the play Proof by David Auburn. For such dull subject matter (math) and no set changes, I was surprised how good it was. Kinda reminded me of A Beautiful Mind.
Familiar – Play – Seattle Repertory Theatre Evening performance of the play “Familiar.” Hilarious relatable commentary on first-generation immigrant cultural identity after American assimilation. And of course in typical Seattle fashion, there was brief nudity out of nowhere. ? — attending Familiar at Seattle Repertory Theatre.
