“Sunset Baby” w/ ArtsWest Playhouse. For having only one scene location, this play surprisingly managed to hold my attention. A bit too much angst. Not sure what statement this play was trying to make. #NinaSimone
“The Last World Octopus Wrestling Champion” by Justin Huertas w/ ArtsWest Playhouse and Gallery. Proud to see a great musical that features pinoy/pinay characters & acknowledges Filipino culture! I’m also a sucker for the dangerous (but oh so comforting) hope that “love at first sight” & soulmates exist.
“Office Hour” play at ArtsWest. Confused w/ what actually vs potentially occurred in the story timeline. Radical conflictingly sympathetic portrayal of mass shooting killers. Well-performed final climactic montage of violence.
Watched the slow 3-act play “John” w/ Eyal at ArtsWest. Random & plotless … but very detailed set. Many promisingly ominous moments ended up anticlimactic or unresolved. The highfalutin critical appeal is lost on me. #NotAFan
Riveting Tony Awards-winning play “M. Butterfly.” Multilayered commentary on gender/sexual conformity, Asian racial stereotypes, & east vs west. A Seattle play finally uses nudity constructively. #madameButterfly
