Behold the Dreamers – Play – Book-It Repertory Theatre Stage play adaptation of “Behold the Dreamers” at Book-It Repertory Theatre. Well-written captivating storytelling. Reminds me of the sacrifices my immigrant parents made to achieve the American Dream. Loved the juxtaposition between the rich & poor. Surprised that so many seats were empty at such a good play.
Jane Eyre – Play – Book-It Repertory Theatre Watched the staged play adaptation of Jane Eyre. Like in Twillight, Pride and Prejudice, & The Phantom of the Opera, I don’t understand the allure of brooding borderline-misogynist male romantic leads.
The Rules of Charity – Play – Sound Theatre Company Watched “The Rules of Charity,” a play shedding light on the handicap experience. Riveting, brilliantly-executed, & well-written dialogue. Fantastic climactic fight choreography. But it’s a shame I couldn’t decipher the play’s message.
The Picture of Dorian Gray – Play – Book-it Repertory Theatre Watched the stage play adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray. Oh the English and their coded euphemisms! I read the abridged book in elementary and innocently missed all the gay themes/undertones. Cool final climactic scene.
You Can’t Take It With You – Play – Sound Theatre Company The Stranger tricked me into watching You Can’t Take It With You on Broadway thinking it was a musical. Ended up being a 3-act (yikes!) play. Sooooo Seattle what with its colorblind and “gender-blind” casting. Great set but not-so-great sound effects. Good actors. Just not a fan of long plays with few scene changes.
