Pageant – The Musical Comedy Beauty Competition – ACT Theatre Attended Pageant – The Hilarious Comedy Musical on the second evening of Seattle Pride weekend. 6 drag queens compete for the crown … & actually sing! Different winner each show depending on the audience. I was totally rooting for Miss Texas & Miss Bible Belt.
God Save the Queens – Concert – Seattle Men’s Chorus Opened Seattle Pride with the Seattle Men’s Chorus concert “God Save the Queens” – a tribute to British music. Loved “Twist and Shout!” Not a fan of Prince Poppycock though. Cast more solos from the chorus members! Miss singing with y’all!
The Picture of Dorian Gray – Play – Book-it Repertory Theatre Watched the stage play adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray. Oh the English and their coded euphemisms! I read the abridged book in elementary and innocently missed all the gay themes/undertones. Cool final climactic scene.
Before the Flood – Play – ACT Theatre Watched the play “Until the Flood” unaware it was a one-woman show abt #blacklivesmatter. The actress effectively conveyed a relevant (albeit heavy) message. But I was really originally hoping to escape into an entertaining puff piece with a plot this evening.
Les Miserables – Musical – Paramount Theatre Attended the sold out tour of Les Miserables – Musical. Victor Hugo is such a debbie downer! Just realized I watched 2 musicals based on his books this weekend. Both had epic music scores. But would someone turn on more stage lighting?! Could barely see anything.
