Songs for a New World – Musical – Village Theatre “Songs for a New World” song cycle musical at Village Theatre. Novel use of live video recording during the performance. Kinda miss having a plot and storyline to follow though.
Anastasia – Musical – Paramount Theatre “Anastasia – The Musical” stage adaptation of the animated film felt tepid. Background graphics alternated between enriching & cheesy. Appreciated the Soviet antagonist instead of the movie’s corny Rasputin.
My Fair Lady – Musical – Paramount “My Fair Lady” #musical w/ Seattle Theatre Group. Closest to the Paramount Theatre stage I’ve ever sat (3rd row). “I could have ‘watched’ all night!” #classic #pygmalion #shesAllThat
The Winter’s Tale – Musical – Seattle Repertory Theatre “The Winter’s Tale” musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s play. Disappointed @SeattleRep produced this year’s performance as a film instead of a live show because of covid. But I’ll give them a pass for these trying times … and for the free annual ticket!
We’ve Battled Monsters Before – Musical – ArtsWest Playhouse “We’ve Battled Monsters Before” by Justin Huertas. Only 2 performers acted, played 9 instruments, & sang … not to mention one wrote the script, music, & lyrics. Great to see a Filipino-themed story in the underrepresented media/arts. #pinoy #pinay #babaylan #magic #filipinos
