“Monsters of the American Cinema” at ArtsWest Playhouse. A bit odd especially the stage view from the audience perspective. Good climactic scenes & familial dialogue though. #monster
“Hotter Than Egypt” play at ACT Theatre. Engaging but lengthy scenes. The obliviously privileged Americans vacationing in a foreign land were both relatably & annoyingly amusing. #Egyptian #marriage
Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” musical at the 5th Avenue Theatre. First time I’ve seen the audience do a standing ovation before the second act … or even before the curtain call. #POC #BiPOC
“Songs for a New World” song cycle musical at Village Theatre. Novel use of live video recording during the performance. Kinda miss having a plot and storyline to follow though.
“Anastasia – The Musical” stage adaptation of the animated film felt tepid. Background graphics alternated between enriching & cheesy. Appreciated the Soviet antagonist instead of the movie’s corny Rasputin.
